🛠️ Grounding & Separation Requirements (Rule 68-058 3) c)

If you’re installing a hot tub directly on bare ground, a copper ground ring is now required.

It must be installed 450–600mm from the tub Buried 100–150mm deep into the ground Cement pads no longer qualify as acceptable ground separation

If a copper ring cannot be installed, an approved non-conductive barrier must be used.

This includes materials like:

The barrier must extend 1.5 meters around the hot tub to maintain electrical isolation and safety.

🔌 Disconnect Requirements (Rule 68-072)

The hot tub disconnect must now meet stricter placement and safety rules:

It must be installed outside the dwelling unit It must be lockable and easily accessible If located within 1.5–3 meters of the hot tub, it must be: ✅ GFCI protected, or ✅ Installed behind a permanent barrier

According to TSASK (Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan), hot tubs must be installed by a licensed electrical contractor.
